Admission

Admission into BISG is highly competitive. Prospective families are therefore encouraged to register early. Our admissions office will support you throughout the entire process.

We have an open enrolment and therefore accept registrations all year round but, an earlier application will increase your family’s chances of securing a place. If we are not able to offer a place, you may choose to be added to our waitlist on a first come first served basis.

All prospective students will take an entrance assessment called CEM Select Evaluate produced by the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring(CEM) and places will be offered only to those who meet the threshold mark.

In determining the appropriate age group for each student, BISG uses the British academic year: 1st September to 31st August. The school does not admit students to a year group above or below their chronological age, unless there are exceptional circumstances. These will be discussed on an individual basis with parents prior to the placement of the child.

Statement Regarding Accessibility for Students with Physical Disabilities

The British International School Gambia (BISG) is committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming and supportive learning environment for all children.

We recognise, however, that our current campus has certain physical limitations. The school occupies a multi-storey building and, at present, does not have lift facilities or other accessibility features that would enable students with significant mobility impairments to access all areas of the campus safely and independently.

Regrettably, this means that, at the present time, we may be unable to accommodate the needs of students with certain physical disabilities that require a fully accessible learning environment. Any decision regarding admission will always be made on an individual basis following careful consideration of the student's specific needs and the school's ability to provide a safe, appropriate and supportive educational experience.

This position reflects the limitations of our current facilities rather than our educational philosophy. BISG values diversity and inclusion and is committed to ensuring that every child is treated with dignity, respect and fairness.

As the school continues to grow and develop, we will actively explore opportunities to improve the accessibility of our campus through future building enhancements and infrastructure improvements.

Parents who have questions regarding accessibility or who wish to discuss the individual needs of their child are warmly encouraged to contact the school before making an application. We will always be pleased to discuss our facilities openly and honestly and to advise whether we are able to meet a child's particular requirements.

We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to creating an increasingly accessible and inclusive learning environment as the school continues to develop.
