Position: Primary School Teacher

Start Date: January 2026
Contract Type: Fixed Term
Closing Date: 20th October 2025 (Early closure may occur if suitable candidates are appointed)

The British International School Gambia (BISG) is delighted to announce the opening of our Junior School section from January 2026, following the outstanding success of our High School over the past four years in delivering high-quality education and exceptional student outcomes.

As The Gambia’s premier British International School and the first school in the country to achieve COBIS Membership status, BISG is proud to offer a British-style education through the Cambridge Assessment International Curriculum. We are now seeking well-qualified and inspirational teachers for Nursery, Reception, and Primary classes, who are passionate about nurturing young learners and committed to excellence in international education.

The Junior School will be located in Pipeline, KMC, in a purpose-built setting designed to inspire curiosity and creativity. We will have intentionally small class sizes, allowing teachers to know each child as an individual and to personalise learning experiences. Our low teacher-student ratio, combined with our international curricula delivered by exceptional educators, provides children with opportunities to master knowledge and skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

We recognise that our teachers are the school’s most valuable asset. In maintaining the standards of a reputable and forward-looking international school, we seek to recruit and retain dedicated professionals who place student progress and wellbeing at the heart of their practice. In return, our teachers enjoy a supportive community, opportunities for professional development through COBIS, and a rewarding experience both personally and professionally.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Gambia, often referred to as the ‘Smiling Coast of Africa’, is a small but vibrant country with a welcoming atmosphere and relaxed pace of life. Its Atlantic coastline, year-round sunshine, and proximity to Europe make it one of West Africa’s most appealing destinations. The official language is English, which contributes to a smooth transition for expatriate staff and fosters a strong sense of community among international residents.
